Difference between revisions of "Category:Australasia/Asia"

Countries in Australasia (which includes the wider Pacifica region) and Asia were some of the first to screen Doctor Who: New Zealand, Australia and Singapore all began screening the series within a few months of each other from 1964.

Hartnell only screened in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong (transmissions were also available in Macau) and Thailand, while Troughton was only seen in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The other countries in the list below mostly saw only Pertwee and/or Tom Baker on a local station, or via satellite.

Generic references to the region have featured in the following stories:

• The Doctor wins all the commerce from Burma for one year (Marco Polo)
• Tibet is referenced in several stories, including Marco Polo, The Abominable Snowmen, Planet of the Spiders, Terror of the Zygons, The Creature from the Pit.
• Asia was wiped out by the Daleks (The Dalek Invasion of Earth)
• The glaciers in Australasia were 'held' by the Ioniser bases there, while 'improvement' was claimed by those in Asia (The Ice Warriors)
• Ten units of Axonite are sent to Baikonur (which is in Kazakhstan) (The Claws of Axos)
